Surroundings:
The Lamanai Archeological Reserve is our neighbor to the North, the New River Lagoon to the East, Indian Church Village to the West, and Trees to the South.
WE ARE in the Jungle where there is no government power.
We are appreciatively RUSTIC – enjoying the little things brings good energy.
WE RUN on generators (you may hear it), and WE HAVE jungle critters (you will see them).
We DO FORGET about the outside world.
Sustainability – You can learn more from the guides, but here are a few notes:
We love our Belizean Wildlife. We protect them as best we could, and teach our local kids about them. Our team will show you, our guest, local community support and involvement, and our appreciation for our local wildlife.
Lamanai Outpost Lodge just facilitated the training of 15 new Local guides; 10 of which are currently employed by the Lodge.
Maintaining conservation of the lodge grounds and protecting biodiversity are among our main focuses. Recent research from the University of Florida was very promising.
We work closely with universities and research academics on conservation and biodiversity. Although some guests do not like the concept of us using an airboat in our remote area, it does help with our ongoing MORELET’S CROCODILE research project.
The Lodge is working with the Police and Fisheries Department to minimize environmental impact in the river and lagoon surrounding the Lodge by seizing illegal and dangerous gillnets.
Our Lamanai reforestation project – We recently purchased 30 acres of farmland to convert to forest.
The Lodge is built and maintained using local hardwoods and Thatch.
NPO Jungle World Limited – Ask Reception for more information.
**New – Education – We have our First Lamanai Outpost Self-Published Children’s Book. You can order via Amazon. If you bring it when you visit, the Guides can sign it at the Lodge. 🙂 This helps us fulfill our mission of giving free copies to local kids.
We Do Our Best. Every guest is special to us. 🙂
PRICES vary with the number of guests in a room, kids’ ages, and number of nights stay. Please request a quote at reservations@lamanai.com

STAFF GRATUITIES – We encourage tipping but do NOT believe in mandatory service charges – tipping should be totally up to you. Given outstanding Service, we suggest putting US$20-30 per adult guest night into the tip box at Reception. Tips are 100% managed by our staff & shared by all except our guides who are generally tipped directly.
ALL CABANAS ARE AIR-CONDITIONED BUT YOU DECIDE IF YOU NEED IT – Having found that many of our guests prefer open windows to enjoy the night-time Noises of The Jungle & the natural cooling of a thatch roofed cabana, we have structured our generators, electrical system and rates to provide air-conditioning as an option that can be added at the lodge or when booking your adventure. Air-conditioning adds US$31 plus government tax per cabana-night.
Not available in Researcher Cabanas.
HOW MANY NIGHTS SHOULD WE BOOK – 3 To 4 Nights Is The Average stay for couples and families on an Adventure-Package. Some folk want to relax after their Adventure-Package & will add a couple of nights Accommodation-Only-&-Meals on the end. Let us know how you imagine your experience and we will help you put it together.
DEPOSIT, CANCELLATION, CONFIRMING YOUR RESERVATION & FINAL PAYMENT
Place Your Reservation with an email – no deposit required
Full payment due 30 days Prior to your arrival – Not refundable for any reason
CREDIT CARDS, CASH & THE EXCHANGE RATE
US-cash is accepted pretty much everywhere in Belize, bring what you will need with you, 5, 10 & 20 dollar notes are best
Larger notes are fine with restaurants, hotels & guides who know you – 50 and 100 notes are sometimes counterfeited
Change will generally be given in Belize dollars – the exchange rate is BZ$2 to US$1
Although you can exchange BZ$ back to US$ at the airport, it is a major pain – best to spend it prior to departure
Visa, Mastercard and Amex are accepted at Lamanai Outpost and at most places in Belize – Discover is not accepted in Belize at this time
We recommend carrying a couple of credit cards in case one develops issues
The UK Pound, Euro and such are not readily accepted – change into US-cash before reaching Belize
